Search Engine Optimization starts with and examination of how search engines rank pages. Each search engine must come up with a way to rank 1 to 1 million or more. Some base the rankings on "page rank" which assigns value to the number of websites that link to your website. Others focus on traffic for ranking pages. Ultimately each search engine has a slightly different or dramatic list of sites for each keyword. The goal is to be on the first page (top 10) on all the major search engines.
